I purchased a 1993, deck boat with a 4.3 liter OMC Cobra. It has a fresh water exhaust manifold. The boat had sat for 3 years, I tuned it up, ran it in the yard on the ears, and it purred. I finally water tested it, (salt water), and it ran fine until it overheated. I am afraid it may have seized the motor. what are my options, and if it needs to be replaced can I put a merc cruiser motor and outdrive on instead? I am lost at this point.

Hello, first thing to do is determine if you need a new block. Second, why did it over heat? Did the water pump in the drive fail? A Mercruiser short block can be adapted or any 4.3 short block. Cool
