I've had a 86 Welcraft Californian 34 with twin 270 Crusaders for five years. Engines have about 900hrs, all fresh water. Early this year I have had coolant spill from the overflow tube on the heat exchanger at 3000 rpm. I was thinking I needed to replace the pressure cap with a higher psi cap. I have noticed, a few months later when removing the coolant cap to top off,..I did not need to top off and the coolant was no longer blue. Does this mean all my coolant leaked out the exchanger/exhaust and the engine now has the raw/fresh water circulating in it?..Time for a new heat exchanger? Any tips on which way to go?...I noticed there is an OEM type available on this site...and a few others of lesser cost...thoughts there?...or is there something else wrong. The engine doesn't overheat, I have not had the manifolds off, just the slight overflow, and now the coolant gone. Oil exchanger apparently is working well with no water in oil analysis or visible in oil. Am I on theright track? Can I take the exchanger off and have it pressure checked to see if it leaks? Ideas?

I would pull the heat exchanger off and have it pressure checked at a good radiator shop. Cool
