The family had a great time @ Campbell River and
environs. Don't forget the skeeter repellent - dilute SSS is one used by Alaska commercial fishermen.

I agree. Visit during salmon season and you'll have an even better time. Or see the Strathcona Provincial Park and go hiking, camping or even heli-skiing. Great place, really recommend it.

Campbell River is a great stop for relaxing, provisioning, or (heaven forbid!) repairs. Northbound it is a great o/n stop to get an early start through Seymour Narrows on the a.m. slack, or to get your timing right for slack, and Thurston Marine Park and Blind Channel are easy to reach on the same day you leave the River. Southbound you can wait out the nastiness that sometimes presents itself in the form of a Southeaster in the Northern Strait of Georgia. The Gulf Islands, Sunshine Coast, Desolation Sound, and Octopus Islands are all within a day's travel.

I'm lucky enough to have an aunt living in Campbell River who makes the best cinnamon buns in the universe. I am practiced at looking pitiful until she starts baking up a batch.

Looking forward to doing just that. Best fishing for kings if you pay attention to the calendar and tides.
