I have a KAMD 44-P 1998 Volvo Penta engine (Starboard) in this case. It overheated the other day. When I got back to slip I checked and saw coolant in bilge are. I was able to turn the serpentine belt freely while in idle...It that normal? I could not get to impeller (that is probably 1 1/2 years old). Refilled water in engine and ran it up to 180 degrees (normal for my boat) took it out for a spin and as soon as I left the marina it started to go up in temp. What could it be? Impeller? Does serpentine belt move freely in neutral?
Thanks
Frank B

If the engine is not running, the belt should not turn freely! First check the sea water strainer, if it is clean pull the sea water pump cover and inspect the impeller. Cool

Thanks Mike.... Checked strainer - clean. Checked impeller, impeller sems to be OK couldn't pull it out. However, all blades seem to be intact. Other problem is putting screws back in snapped one and dropped one in bilge are. Could not find. Seems like I took one step forward and three back. Time to call in a real mechanic. Thanks again
