Hello Gentlemen,
Today I started a Mercury 4 hp motor that I have had in storage for over 5 yrs. (Divorces can be a distraction!) Fortunately I had taken action for the proper storage & it started up in the barrel on the 6th pull. However,
after letting it run for 45 seconds it was not pumping any water out the pee hole, Shut it off & let it cool for 15 min. Tried again, no difference.
The motor ran just fine but after 5 of these cycles I pulled off the prop & the protective screen on the water inlet on the bottom of the cavitation plate. When I pulled off the plate I noticed a very small piece of black plastic in the slots of the screen, (Impeller Part?) I then rigged up a piece of clear plastic hose that would fit into the intake. This made the pee hole pour water even when the motor wasn't running. I thought if I could just get some water moving through the system it might come out of it. No luck! I have looked all over the Web for Help to no avail, the motor serial # is OD902339 with the #'s 393 just below it on the transom mount. Any help with telling me the Year & what it takes to replace the impeller would be greatly appreciated . The motor is in as new condition & I wish to start using it again for many more years. (Good trade for the Ex)
Thanks, Stevum

Just a quick note to let you know I was able to replace the Impeller & everything works fine. I found a video on You-tube that showed how to replace the Impeller & it was just what I needed. Motor is ready for several more seasons!!
