I just bought this 88 245 vista four winns and after our first voyage which covered about 30 miles of mostly running about 2000 rpm we had about 4 to 5 gallons of water in the engine room, I cleaned it all out and then let the engine run and checked for leaks and could not see any while tied up to the dock.
I know this is a tough question but I could use some suggestions where and what to look for.

Here are some questions... and thoughts

Is the bilge divided, fore and aft?

The water might be coming in only when the boat is in forward or reverse

How much water, in how much time? Does it come in while just sitting?

When you did the engine running test, were you in drive?

Now the other areas; leaking pump, exhaust, thruhull? Loaded vs empty boat?

Hello, how is the boat powered? Inboard or sterndrive? Mercruiser?

Scotty and Mike, thank you for the reply, the bilge is not divided, no water when sitting, I had about 4 to 5 gals after just chugging along about 2000rpm over a period of 4 to 5 hrs, it is a omc cobra sterndrive c/o a 5.7 litre, I only had the boat in reverse for a few minutes, when I ran the boat at the the dock to check for leaks I had the boat in neutral, I am going to check while running this weekend so maybe with the hatch up I will find something.
