So, My husband & I just bought a boat and love it! But we have 2 children that I desperately want to take out with us...but I have heard horrible stories and am afraid that it is not safe for them. If they fall in and we don't realize it, I am afraid we would never be able to find them. Any suggestions?

How old are your kids? Regardless of age take a boating safety class & make them wear proper fitted PFDs. If that is not enough there are also several man overboard devices around. The most popular one being autotether. With all those you can't go wrong.

The kids are 4 and 6. Autotether does seem easy enough for me to use. How effective are they?

Just look over their news page , it should answer all your questions. But I have heard they are near 100% effective. They stop the boat if anyone with a sensor falls.

Thanks for your help! After all my questions and concerns I received an email from the people at http://www.autotether.com giving me more information about their product and offering me 15% a purchase form their website. So now I can afford it and keep my kids safe.

Boating with kids can be a lot of fun.

Worrying can be diminished by being prepared.
Properly fitting life jackets and tethers sound like a start.
