Anyone know if a 2001 130hp four stroke engine is too large/heavy for a 20 foot capri? |

20' Bayliner Capri's are fitted with 5 litre v8's - what are you trying to put in? What did you have before? Some 2050's have 5.7 250HP.
the 1997 Bayliner capri 2050 had a 210 HP (4.3 L Mercury I/O) in it...
Are you refering to the Bayliner then??
I don't think the engine is too big. _________________ Boat Scotty

It's a Bayliner Capri, 16 years old. No engine in it currently, trying to decide whether to buy 130hp engine that someone is trying to sell. |

I would go for the engine - you might be a little bit slower, may upper 30's to low 40's. If you get something up in the 200+ HP, you will see the 50+ MPH.
Like in Mad Max - how fast do you want to go; it is just a matter of $'s
Oh, and there is no substitute for cubes (cubic inches).
Good luck and have fun! _________________ Boat Scotty

Hello bunnyK, you need to consider the outdrive gear ratio before you install an engine. Do you know what engine and drive package came with the boat? |

The most common engines fitted from the factory to the 1991 20' Bayliner Capri were the 120 HP 3.0L, Some were fitted with 145 HP motors
I would say that a 2001 130hp four stroke engine would be no problem... _________________ Boat Scotty
